If you wouldn’t use a flat iron or perform any type of color services due to the poor condition of the hair, we recommend not performing the treatment on this client.

When can I perform color/highlighting services?

In order for optimum performance of the Brazilian Blowout FREE smoothing solution and to achieve the desired results, in most cases, the treatment requires the full processing time to effectively penetrate the hair and to stretch and manipulate the bonds into straight alignment.

Please refer to processing guidelines which outline the hair types/conditions that require less time.
Can I process coarse/healthier hair (with the Brazilian Blowout FREE Smoothing Solution mixture) for more than 45 minutes?
It is not recommended. According to extensive testing, 45 minutes is the optimal processing time to achieve desired smoothing results.
Can I perform this on clients who are pregnant or nursing?
No, the Brazilian Blowout FREE smoothing treatment should not be performed on pregnant and/or nursing women.
How long will the treatment last?
When performed according to manufacturer instructions and with use of Brazilian Blowout aftercare, results will last up to 12 weeks.

Clients should use the Brazilian Blowout Deep Conditioning Masque for the first 3-4 washes to enhance restoration of the hair’s pH and, on rare occasions, to help replenish moisture. Why do I need to perform the Finalizing Laminator step?
The Finalizing Laminator is required as it is the last step of the Brazilian Blowout FREE smoothing treatment. It is specifically engineered to balance the hair’s pH, seal in the treatment, and provide a protective barrier against treatment degradation caused by washing, heat styling, and environmental stressors. You will always choose a Finalizing Laminator based on the client’s hair type and condition of their hair to deliver the best longest-lasting result possible.
Can the Brazilian Blowout FREE smoothing treatment be used after a relaxer?
No. For clients who want to transition away from relaxers, they must wait a minimum of 2 months after receiving a relaxer and their hair must be assessed by the stylist to determine if it is healthy enough to receive a new service.

How long does it take to perform a Brazilian Blowout FREE smoothing treatment?
On average, it will take 2 hours to perform the treatment.
Is there a waiting period or any restrictions?
There is no wait period and no restrictions after receiving the treatment. The client can wash hair, exercise, put hair in a clip, bun or ponytail the same day as the treatment without issue.
What are the key ingredients in Brazilian Blowout FREE?
Our patent-pending smoothing technology is powered in part by Guanidine HCL, a naturally occurring compound that has been clinically proven to stretch and manipulate bonds within the keratin structure. Not to be confused with guanidine carbonate which permanently cleaves/breaks bonds, guanidine HCL does not break nor damage the hair bonds.
How does the technology work?
The Brazilian Blowout FREE Smoothing Solution (Smoothing Base + Smoothing Activator) utilizes patent-pending smoothing technology that works within the hair, temporarily stretching and manipulating disulfide and weaker bonds on the keratin structure into a straight alignment without breaking, cutting or cleaving. This elicits a smooth and frizz-free result, without a line of demarcation, that lasts up to 12 weeks.

Yes, you can perform the treatment on highlighted hair. However, highly lifted or extremely damaged hair that cannot tolerate high flat ironing temperatures or, cannot tolerate another round of highlights or bleach service should not use the Brazilian Blowout FREE smoothing treatment.
What treatment can I perform on overly processed and very damaged hair?
If the internal structure is heavily compromised (i.e. you wouldn’t perform another color treatment or highlights or, use a flat iron), it’s recommended to use the Brazilian Blowout Original smoothing treatment as this works externally to smooth and seal the cuticle. If you don’t carry the Brazilian Blowout Original smoothing treatment, we recommend sending your client home with our Deep Conditioning Masque and to have them use it every other wash for at least 2 weeks or, until the Brazilian Blowout FREE smoothing treatment can be performed.
How long should I wait to perform the treatment if I have highlighted my client?
We recommend waiting 2 weeks before performing the Brazilian Blowout FREE smoothing treatment.
If my client has heavily processed ends, but the predominant part of the hair is healthy/strong, how should I apply the Brazilian Blowout FREE smoothing solution?
We suggest applying the smoothing solution to the strongest hair first and the weakest hair last. If the ends are excessively compromised, it’s suggested to not process them at all with the Brazilian Blowout FREE smoothing solution but to seal them using the Finalizing Laminator Fragile/Compromised formula.
How do I determine which finalizing laminator to use?
Proper assessment of the client’s hair type and condition of the hair will help you choose the proper Finalizing Laminator.
If the client has heavily highlighted fragile/compromised hair, you will use Finalizing Laminator Fragile/Compromised to assist with more internal repair.
If the client has very thick, curly/wavy, resistant hair, you will use Finalizing Laminator Coarse/Healthier to assist with more external smoothing.
I have a client with various hair integrity- i.e. virgin root to mid shaft and double process ends. What is the proper application and processing for the Brazilian Blowout FREE smoothing solution?
Stronger hair requires more processing time, weaker hair needs less processing time. Apply the mixed smoothing solution to the strongest hair first and the weakest hair last.
I have a client with highlights that’s not overly compromised but isn’t virgin, they are 50/50. What is the suggested processing time and what Finalizing Laminator should be used?
We suggest a processing time of 30 minutes to start. Check the elasticity at 20 minutes to see if the hair can handle more time and finish with the Finalizing Laminator formula that would be most beneficial for the client’s hair.
Who should I perform an elasticity test on and when?
Clients with heavily processed and very compromised hair who are looking to receive the Brazilian Blowout FREE smoothing treatment. You should check elasticity around the 20-minute mark into the smoothing solution processing time. If the hair exhibits any stretch, proceed with the next step and remove the mixed solution by rinsing thoroughly (a minimum of 3 minutes) and double cleansing with the Micro Chelating Cleanser.
How do I perform an elasticity test?
While the client is processing, you will select a few strands from the most fragile section and pull on those strands, from mid-shaft or ends while holding the base side. If the hair continues to stretch as you’re pulling, it is recommended to proceed to the next step. If the hair feels firm and rigid you can continue processing the mixed smoothing solution without exceeding the recommended max processing time of 30 min.
My client had pastel/vivid semi-permanent direct dye on their hair prior to the treatment, some of it faded out during the treatment, when can I re-color?
In rare cases, if this does happen, you can apply the dye directly after the flat ironing step of the Brazilian Blowout FREE smoothing service.
